Meet Elizabeth Nzowa
Elizabeth Nzowa
Owner
A passion for authentic cooking, rooted in family,
tradition, and community.
Elizabeth (Zena) is originally from Moshi,
Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. She spent her early
years in Iringa, Tanzania, with her grandmother.
Her grandmother owned several cafeterias in the area,
and Zena would spend time there. It was here that she
first learned the art of cooking.
Later in her youth, she assisted her mother, who had
a cafeteria in Old Moshi Secondary School.
Before coming to America, she was responsible for
catering for her local church during all services.
After coming to America, she didn’t know her cooking
skills would be in demand. In fact, it was not her plan
to cook. It so happens that a friend from back home
asked her to make a few dishes for her guests.
After the guests ate the food, they demanded to know
who had cooked such delicious and authentic food.
The rest is history.
Cooking is more than preparing food — it is a way
of sharing culture, memories, and love with others.
